Road Closure

Subject:  Large Culvert Replacement 228491

             Route 127

 

To Whom it may concern:

 

The Maine Department of Transportation is finalizing a contract package to replace Large Culvert #228491 located on Route 127, 0.34 of a mile northeast of River Road in Woolwich.

    

The purpose of this letter is to notify all public officials, agencies, and organizations of a complete road closure and detour of Route 127 which is required to complete this work.

 

This closure will begin on Monday April 8th, 2024, at 9am. The first phase of construction will be the installation of ductile iron water main on each side of the subject culvert within the MaineDOT project limits; this work will be completed by the Bath Water District.

        

The second phase of construction will be completed by a Maine DOT contractor beginning April 15th, 2024. This work will consist of excavation and replacement of the existing failing culverts and reconstruction of approximately 600 feet of roadway base and pavement.  Route 127 is scheduled to reopen on May 2nd, 2024. The contract completion of this project will be no later than Friday May 31st, 2024.

 

All vehicles will be detoured via Route 128 and Indian Road, see attached map.
