Starting as early as August, residents of Woolwich will be able to order blazing-fast, symmetrical fiber optic internet service – offering speeds of up to 2 gigabits per second!

This major upgrade is part of a $6 million initiative funded by the Maine Connectivity Authority, which awarded the grant in August 2024. The project is a public-private partnership with Consolidated Communications, operating under the Fidium Fiber brand, and will benefit Woolwich as well as neighboring towns including Wiscasset, Alna, Dresden, Boothbay, Edgecomb, Waldoboro, Whitefield, and Nobleboro.

The Town of Woolwich demonstrated strong support for this project, authorizing matching grant funds in 2023 and reaffirming its commitment in 2024. Construction is now nearing completion, and service will soon be available throughout the community.
