As you may have read in the news, the Maine Connectivity Authority has voted to award $6 million for the construction of fiber broadband service in the municipalities of Woolwich, Wiscasset, Alna, Dresden, Boothbay, Edgecomb, Waldoboro, Whitefield and Nobleboro in a public-private partnership with Consolidated Communications.
At the May 2023 town meeting, the town of Woolwich voted to authorize matching funds for this grant program, but since the time window for that authorization has expired, the town of Woolwich is required to re-authorize the matching grant money.
To do this, there will be a special town meeting Wednesday, September 18 at 5PM at the Woolwich Municipal Building to vote on the reauthorization of these funds.
